Quick Setup (2 minutes)
Follow these steps to get your free Google Maps API key and start using Storm Maps.
Visit Google Cloud Console
Go to the Google Cloud Console and create a new project (or select an existing one).
Open Google Cloud ConsoleEnable Google Maps JavaScript API
In the APIs & Services section, enable the "Maps JavaScript API" for your project.
Enable Maps JavaScript APICreate API Key
Go to "Credentials" and click "Create Credentials" → "API Key". Copy the generated key.
Create API KeyPaste Your Keys and Launch
Return to Storm Maps, paste your API keys in the form above, and click "Launch Storm Maps". Done!
Security Tip
For production use, consider restricting your API key to specific domains in the Google Cloud Console for enhanced security.

Create OpenTopography Account
Sign up for a free account at OpenTopography portal.
Sign Up at OpenTopographyRequest API Key
Go to "myOpenTopo" section and request your free API key. Academic users get 500 calls/day, non-academic get 100 calls/day.
Request API KeyAdd Your Key
Once approved, paste your OpenTopography API key in the form above along with your Google Maps key, then click "Launch Storm Maps".
